Deadbolt & Lock Installation in Vancouver

Supplying and fitting new deadbolts, handlesets and door hardware — and swapping tired builder-grade locks for something that actually resists a shoulder. A licensed Vancouver locksmith bores, mortises and aligns every lock so it throws fully and turns cleanly, whether it’s one front door or a keyed-alike set for the whole house. Fully mobile across Greater Vancouver, day or night.

What it is

New hardware, fitted to the door

Lock installation is the difference between a deadbolt that looks fine and one that’s genuinely holding your door shut. The lock is only as strong as the bore it sits in, the backset it’s cut to and the strike it lands on. A grade-3 builder special with a short screw into a soft jamb gives way to a good kick; a properly fitted Grade 1 or 2 deadbolt with a reinforced strike and long screws into the framing does not. That framing is what we install to.

We supply and fit new deadbolts, keyed handlesets and complete door hardware, and we upgrade weak factory locks to a higher grade to match how exposed the door is. Every install starts with the boring — confirming the bore diameter and the 2⅜″ or 2¾″ backset, squaring the strike to where the bolt actually throws, and shimming or planing the door so it closes without a fight. Where you want to go smart-ready later, we fit hardware that takes a smart deadbolt cleanly.

What’s included

What a lock install covers

  • Supply & fit. New deadbolts, handlesets and passage hardware sourced and installed in one visit — you don’t chase parts.
  • Grade upgrades. Builder-grade locks swapped for ANSI Grade 1 or 2 hardware matched to how exposed each door is.
  • Correct bore & backset. Bore, 2⅜″ or 2¾″ backset and cross-bore cut clean — existing holes filled and re-drilled if they’re off.
  • Strike & alignment. Reinforced strike plate, long screws into the framing and the door adjusted so the bolt throws fully.
  • Smart-ready installs. Hardware fitted to accept a smart deadbolt cleanly, or a smart lock set up and handed over working.
  • Keyed alike. Second doors, back doors and garage entries cut to one key so a single key runs the whole house.
How it works

From doorstep to a lock that throws

01

Check the door & pick hardware

We measure the bore, backset and jamb, then help you choose the grade and finish that suits the door and your budget.

02

Fit, bore & align

We install the deadbolt or handleset, correct the strike, add long framing screws and adjust the door so it closes and locks cleanly.

03

Test, key & hand over

We cycle the lock, cut your keys — keyed alike if you asked — and confirm it throws fully before we leave.

Why fit it right

A deadbolt is only as good as its install

Most break-ins that beat a deadbolt don’t defeat the lock — they defeat a short screw in a soft strike. That’s why we install to the framing, not just the jamb trim, and square the strike to where the bolt lands. You get a fixed, upfront price agreed before any work, honest advice on which grade is worth it for each door, and no call-out surprises or after-hours markup even at 3am. We’re licensed, bonded and insured, and we favour non-destructive methods — if a door has to be modified we quote it first.
