What rekeying actually does
Rekeying leaves your lock hardware exactly where it is and changes the small spring-loaded pins inside the cylinder. Once those pins are set to a new pattern, the lock only turns for a brand-new key and every copy of the old key — the set the previous owner cut, the one a roommate never returned, the spare a contractor borrowed — simply stops working. The deadbolt and knob you already trust stay on the door; only who can open them changes.
Because we’re re-pinning rather than replacing, most homes only need a single new key. We key your front deadbolt, back door and any side or garage-entry lock alike, so one key runs the whole house instead of a jangling ring.
