Smart & electronic lock questions
You won’t be locked out. Nearly every smart lock we fit warns you well before the batteries go, and keeps a backup way in — a physical key override, a mechanical keypad, or emergency terminals you can jump with a 9V battery. We set that backup up and show you how it works before we leave, so a flat battery is a minor annoyance, never an emergency.
Most of the time we reuse your existing bore. Standard smart deadbolts fit the same 54mm hole and 60mm or 70mm backset as a normal deadbolt, so it’s a straight swap. If your door is non-standard or needs a second bore for a keypad, we’ll tell you before we touch it — drilling is a last resort we quote first, never a surprise on the invoice.
Usually, yes — and that’s part of the job. We match the lock to your ecosystem (app control, auto-lock, per-user codes and entry alerts), pair it to the right hub or bridge, and confirm it talks to your alarm or smart-home setup before we call it done. If your system is picky, we’ll recommend a model that’s known to play nicely rather than leave you fighting it.
