Your suite door cylinder is an ordinary mechanical lock. If you rent, you can book a lockout for your own suite. Rekeying or replacing the cylinder needs the owner's authorization, within the strata's bylaws.
Everything past your suite door runs on the building's fobs: the lobby, the parkade gate, the elevator and the amenity rooms. The strata or the property manager programs them, not a locksmith.
So when a fob stops working, start with the building office. Replacement fobs come from the strata or the property manager.

Do I need strata approval to change my Metrotown suite lock?
Check the bylaws first. Many stratas are relaxed about your own suite cylinder, but some require a building keyway or keep access arrangements. A short email to the strata can head off an expensive disagreement.
Can a Burnaby house and its basement suite stay on separate keys?
Yes, and in almost every case they should. A suite tenant should not hold a key to the main house. The house's own doors can still be keyed alike, in the same visit.
Can you cut a car key in a Metrotown mall parkade?
