Getting into a safe you can’t open
Safes fail in ordinary ways. The combination gets forgotten or was never written down after a move; a digital keypad goes dead or scrambles its code; a mechanical dial binds or spins freely because a wheel or the spindle has worn; a boltwork jams so the handle turns but the door won’t swing. Any one of them leaves cash, documents, jewellery or firearms sitting behind a door you can’t open — and forcing it yourself usually damages the safe long before it opens.
Our approach is manipulation first. We identify the make and lock type, then work the mechanism — dialling, scoping or bypassing — to open it without a mark. Some safes genuinely can’t be manipulated in the time it’s worth, and for those we drill a single controlled hole to the exact point that releases the lock, never through the contents, then repair and re-secure the safe afterwards. Whichever route the safe requires, we quote it before we start, so you decide with the price in front of you.
What a safe-opening call covers
- Make & lock diagnosis. We read the safe’s rating, dial or keypad type and failure mode before touching it.
- Non-destructive entry first. Manipulation, scoping and bypass are always tried before any drilling is considered.
- Contents kept safe. Any drilling targets the lock mechanism only — never the compartment holding your valuables.
- Restore to working order. After a drill we plug and reface the hole and fit a new lock so the safe locks again.
- Reset the code for you. Once open, we set a fresh combination or keypad code you choose and confirm it opens.
- Proof of entitlement. For firearm and commercial safes we confirm you’re entitled to the contents before opening.
