Safe Combination Changes in Vancouver
Resetting the combination on a mechanical dial or electronic safe lock, and managing who can open it — done on-site by a licensed Vancouver locksmith. Whether you’ve just bought a used safe, had a staff change, or you think a code has been shared too widely, we set a new combination you control and walk you through using it.
Why safe combinations get changed
A safe is only as secure as the list of people who know the code. The moment that list is out of date — a departed employee, a previous owner, a cleaner who watched you dial — the safe stops protecting what’s inside it. A combination change closes that gap. On a mechanical dial lock we re-set the wheel pack to a fresh three-number code; on an electronic keypad we clear the old codes and program new ones, from a single manager PIN up to a small set of individual user codes with their own audit position.
We come to you across Greater Vancouver — Downtown, Yaletown, Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant, East Vancouver, Kerrisdale, Dunbar and out to Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster and the North Shore. Most changes are done in minutes at your counter or in your home, without opening the body of the safe. If the lock is a type that needs the door open to change the code and the safe happens to be locked, we open it non-destructively first — picking and bypass before anything invasive — and quote any of that before we start.
What a combination change covers
- Mechanical dial reset. The wheel pack on a three-number dial lock re-set to a fresh combination of your choosing.
- Electronic code reprogramming. Keypad and digital locks wiped of old PINs and set to a new manager code.
- User codes added or removed. Individual staff or family codes issued or revoked without touching the master.
- Function test. The new code dialled and locked several times so it’s proven before we leave.
- Dialling walkthrough. We show you how to spin and drop a dial correctly — the usual cause of a “stuck” safe.
- Battery & override check. On electronic locks we fit fresh cells and confirm the override key still works.
From old code to new code
Confirm the lock & access
We check the lock type and that the safe is open, then agree a fixed price before any work starts.
Set the new combination
Dial packs get re-set, keypads reprogrammed, and any user codes you want added or cleared.
Test & hand over
We cycle the new code repeatedly, show you how to open it reliably, and leave nothing written down.
A code only you control
A used safe often arrives on a factory default or the seller’s old number, and a shared workplace code tends to drift to everyone within a year. Changing it is quick, but it has to be done right — a dial mis-set by one number will lock you out the first time you close the door, and a botched keypad reprogram can trip a lockout timer. We’re open 24/7 with a roughly twenty-minute average response, fully mobile, and we set the code carefully and prove it before we go, so the first time you rely on it isn’t the first time it’s tested.
