UBC campus residences and Wesbrook Village strata
Campus residences are UBC's buildings, with UBC's own locks and card systems. Wesbrook Village is different: strata and rental housing on university land. Tenants can book a lockout; changing the hardware needs the owner's authorization.
University Endowment Lands houses off University Boulevard
In the UEL, you are outside the City of Vancouver altogether. The area is unincorporated and administered provincially. Large houses, often with side and basement suites, and a mix of original and heavily renovated hardware.
West Point Grey heritage homes between Blanca and Alma
Back inside the city boundary. Older stock with the same character-house issues as Kitsilano: narrow stiles, glazed front doors, mortise sets worth saving, on larger lots with more side and rear entrances.

1. Tell us the building name and the nearest campus road or Point Grey cross street
Campus buildings have street numbers, but you may only know the name. Give us both if you can, plus the nearest road, so we head for the right entrance.
2. We use the closest pay lot or loading bay and walk in
Many campus buildings have no curbside parking. We park in the nearest lot and carry the tools in, so look for a locksmith on foot, not a van at the curb.
3. Photo ID and proof you live there, our licence in return, then the quote
Show us a tenancy agreement, a strata or title document, or mail at the address. The locksmith shows identification without being asked. Nothing starts until you have agreed to the number.
On-campus residence doors belong to UBC Housing, not to a locksmith.
If you are locked out of a UBC residence, call your front desk or residence advisor, not us. We would tell you the same on the phone, so save yourself the call.
Your campus residence door is UBC's property on UBC's access system. The university controls the keys and cards, and most residences have a desk that handles lockouts.
No outside locksmith should be opening a residence room. Not because it is difficult, but because it is not ours to open.

I am locked out of my UBC residence room. Do I call you or the front desk?
The residence desk. It is their door and their system, so they are the right people to let you in. Call us for off-campus doors, Wesbrook Village, or your car in a campus lot.
Can you rekey a Point Grey student house before the September tenants arrive?
Yes. Book in August, before move-in week, and you can pick a daytime slot between the last tenants leaving and the new ones arriving, so every door can be done in one visit.
What does a student-house rekey between tenancies cost?
Rekeys are from $35, plus the $75 mobile service call. Several doors in one visit share that one call, and you have the full number before any work begins.
Can you cut a bike locker lock at UBC if I have lost the key and the receipt?
If the locker is yours, yes. Without a receipt, we need other proof: a rental confirmation email, a bank record, or staff who can confirm the assignment. A university or building locker needs their authorization.
Is the University Endowment Lands inside your Vancouver service area?
Yes. The UEL starts just past Blanca and is not legally part of Vancouver, which trips people up. It is ordinary coverage for us: we come to you anywhere in the Lower Mainland.
