Keypad Lock Installation in Vancouver
A door you open with a code instead of a key — supplied, fitted and programmed by a licensed Vancouver locksmith. We install code-entry deadbolts and levers for homes, rentals and offices across Greater Vancouver, set a unique PIN for each person who needs one, and leave you with a lock that keeps working when the battery dies.
How a keypad lock works
A keypad lock replaces the cylinder you turn with a key with a numeric pad you punch a code into. Tap the right PIN and the bolt or latch retracts — no key to lose, no spare to copy, no rushing back to let someone in. Most models let you set several codes at once, so you can give a cleaner, a dog-walker or a tenant their own PIN and delete it the day they no longer need it, without touching anyone else’s. The ones we fit run on batteries, warn you well before they run flat, and take a 9-volt jump or a mechanical key override so a dead battery never locks you out.
Not every keypad suits every door. A rental turns over often and wants codes you can wipe in seconds; a family front door wants a solid Grade 2 deadbolt that survives a Vancouver winter; an office wants a lever with an audit-friendly code list. We match the lock to the door and the traffic it sees, check it fits your existing prep before we commit to a model, and program the codes with you rather than handing over a manual and walking off.
What a keypad install covers
- Right lock for the door. Keypad deadbolt or lever chosen to fit your door prep, backset and the traffic it takes.
- A code for each person. A separate PIN for you, family, staff or tenants — deleted individually whenever access should end.
- Key override kept. A mechanical key backup or 9-volt jump terminal so a flat battery never leaves you at the door.
- Clean fit & alignment. Latch, strike and weather seal set so the bolt throws fully and the door isn’t fighting the frame.
- Auto-lock & lockout set. Re-lock timer and wrong-code lockout tuned so the door secures itself without nuisance jams.
- Walk-through & codes on paper. We run you through adding, changing and wiping PINs and leave the master and reset codes written down.
From choosing a lock to first code
Check the door & pick a lock
We measure the door prep and backset, ask how many people need in, and quote a keypad model that fits — upfront, before any work.
Fit & align it
Out with the old cylinder, in with the keypad; we set the strike and re-lock timer so the bolt throws clean and the door locks itself.
Program & hand over
We load each person’s PIN, test them all, show you how to add and delete codes, and note the master and reset codes for you.
No more lost keys or copied spares
The reason to switch to a code isn’t just tidiness — it’s that you stop losing control of who can get in. A key you handed out months ago can be copied at any hardware store; a PIN you set can be wiped in ten seconds the moment someone moves out or a job ends, without re-cutting a thing. For a rental or a shared office that means access ends when you say it does. We size the lock and its battery life to how often the door is used, and if the day comes that a code is forgotten or a lock plays up, we’re a 24/7 mobile call-out with a roughly 20-minute average across the city.
